Hello! Since this is my first foray into blogging, saying “hello” feels like the perfect place to start.
You might have already noticed that meditation and mindfulness are central to my spiritual practice. I often bring these techniques into the therapy room, though always with a focus on my client’s comfort and readiness.
In truth, starting a meditation practice can be difficult. It often doesn’t “feel” helpful at first. Sitting quietly and noticing your thoughts can actually trigger anxiety or sadness, making it feel like you’re getting worse. In reality, you are simply becoming conscious of your internal narrative—which is a vital, if uncomfortable, first step.
Eventually, the mental chatter calms, and as the mind empties, the body follows suit. Because this process can be intense, I believe it’s incredibly helpful to begin this journey with an experienced guide to support you.
Konoe Nobutada (1565-1614)- Meditating Daruma. The text reads: “Quietness and emptiness are enough to pass through life without error.”
